These sessions will involve: • Drawing/painting using an easel and wooden board, indoors and outdoors, depending on weather conditions. • Suggested medium: pens, pencils and acrylic paint on paper. All material and equipment will be provided and safely handled by the artist with no risk to viewers. • Poses will last from 20 minutes up to one hour each. The focus will be on portraiture. Short breaks may be included. • Passing viewers will be able to walk around both artist and model and look at life drawing/painting in action. • The public may also be given opportunities to take part in this exciting life event by posing themselves.

About Sonia Bidwell
I now live near Skibbereen but I was born in Cornwall, and spent most of my childhood on a boat except when I was at Boarding school. After many years , many jobs, marriage with two daughters, I moved to The Isle of Skye in 1983 Here I went back to country life, crofting with sheep and cattle whilst my husband had a proper job !. My sheep were a rare breed with fine long wool. I sold direct to spinners and taught myself to spin. Then i started making knitted and woven wall hangings, from this developed my art as it is now . Using mainly poetry and folk tales as my inspiration I weave on a metal grid and build up a complex collage of symbolic objects . I prefer solo interactive exhibitions with a definite theme . My biggest and ongoing project is the poetry of WW1

Did you know that the motto for Skibbereen is What You Seek is Here? Quod Petit Hic Est. This is the inspiration for a community based, family friendly arts event.
On St Johns Eve 23 June 2016 the ringing of the Town Hall bell at 7pm will signal the beginning of something new: a sound procession to animate the town of Skibbereen. People are invited to parade from different assembly points (see map) to the four entrances to the Rock celebrating their journey using everyday materials to announce their presence through colour and sound. Congregating at the top we will share songs, poetry or an offering of any kind. This will be a festive, colorful and memorable occasion evoking a time of refuge and a sense of community inclusion while raising awareness of this area of natural beauty. The event will finish at 9pm with the chiming of the town hall be
