Day 3 brought all female artists to the Urban Explorer archive; Lee Bontecou, Camille Souter, Tania Bruguera, Marie Connolle, Catherine Weld and Alice Maher. Only two more days to complete archive contributions. Studio 3 is open from 10am – 1pm on Thursday 13th & Friday 14th August.
The archive is growing. Day 2 of the Open Studio brought discussion about Jesse Jones, Tracy Hanna, Damaris Lysaght, Banksy & Samy Molcho. We will do it all over again on Wednesday 12th August 10am – 1pm in Studio 3, Uillinn West Cork Arts Centre

Good news – I was successful in my application to Create the National Agency for the Development of Collaborative Arts for a research and development award for the Urban Explorer Project. This will give me time to reflect on what has happened so far and to plan future work. The practical part of this phase of research is now finished. It was a wonderfully intense roller coaster of serendipity, missed opportunity, weather watching, litter picking, joyful presence, some swearing, considerable sweat, new alliances, stimulating conversation and hopeful optimism. They will perform their own original composition, written collaboratively with key members of the community and about the community as part of The Starling Song Project. They will also sing songs from their extensive repertory of contemporary songs.
Join Gillian O’Donovan for a short lunch-time nature walk 1:15 – 1:45 on Tuesday 28th July. This short workshop is aimed at children aged 4-8. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Gillian is a native of Skibbereen. She has have worked with children of all ages – s an outdoor instructor at Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre and Oysterhaven Activities Centre.
