Today 23rd June 6:30pm – 8:30pm
We are not alone. The University of Maryland is conducting a dig at the Rock. They are excavating a row of dwelling houses that were built into the rockface. It’s fascinating. We won’t be digging holes today but we will be exploring. All welcome. Photos come from the dig Facebook page Archaeology of the Irish Diaspora and Modern Ireland Project – UMD
Urban Explorer Starts Tuesday 16th June @ 6:30pm
We will have our first foray starting at the top of the Rock at the Famine Memorial. If you haven’t been before, there is an entrance just opposite the eircom building at the top of High St, walk up the pedestrian lane about 100 metres and you’re there. You might want to wear runners – the ground can be a bit rough for sandals. There is parking for one or two cars on the hard shoulder opposite the entrance but you might be better off leaving your car by the Garda Station & walking up.
